This is a personal project inspired by my work as a social media manager.

Summary

Foxhole is a project I work when I have the time. It's a combination of a web app, mobile app and Chrome extension that are meant to improve the user's relationship with their Social Media platforms.

Identifying Painpoints

  • Effect of social media posts on the user depends on the user's current mood
  • User productivity and focus decreases for prolonged amounts of time when they use social media
  • Users spend time rotating through multiple social and chat platforms
  • Users don't find social media professionally productive, but recognize personal enjoyment

Planning

With the consideration of the survey results, I have decided to split this app into three digital products.
A Mobile App, a Web App and a Chrome Extension.

What Is Foxhole?

Foxhole is a social media aggregator that gives control back to the consumer. In an attempt to make Social Media a more productive experience, users can view it all in one place. Users can also use Foxhole to message through different social media platforms.

The two main tools of Foxhole are filtering and timed usage.

Filtering ensures users are only seeing posts they want to see at that moment, such as specifying news, friend's posts, videos, etc.

Timed Usage makes users conscious of the time they spend on social media, creating a time slot for a  break from work or life, rather than a full-time distraction.

Feature List: Mobile App & Web App

*Features marked in orange moved through to the MVP
  1.  Aggregate all social media onto one platform.
  2. Create filtered feeds for the user's specific needs/moods (e.g. news, friends, etc.)
  3. Timed usage so the user can limit and track time spent on social media.
  4. Aggregate all messaging platforms into one app.
  5. Use in-app feedback with a like/dislike mechanic and a machine learning algorithm to generate a "perfect feed"

Feature List: Chrome Extension

  1. Track websites to block or limit usage
  2. Set "no access" time windows
  3. Alert after using tracked sites for a set window of time

I'm also building a web experience.
